Election recap
It comes down to Montana and Virginia, and the Dems are leading in both.

Jim Talent conceded the MO Senate race to Claire McCaskill at around 2:00 a.m. One down, three to go. And the Canvass begins today in Virginia. I can't imagine Webb not winning it.

The biggest disappointment of the night: Harold Ford fell short. He remains the most impressive young Democrat in the country in my estimation, and I hope he continues to pursue national politics. Great race, man. Unfortunately, there's only so much you can do in Dixie.

The Massachusetts gubernatorial race produced a terrific outcome: congratulations to Deval Patrick and his campaign team.

Back on the Hill, Nancy Pelosi won't become the first woman speaker without a challenge. I wouldn't expect Jack Murtha or Steny Hoyer to succeed.

Dems also triumph in the state houses (though not here in the red state of Florida.)

South Dakota refuses to go into the Dark Ages.

Joe Lieberman lives to annoy us with his Bush-love for another day. (Chris Shays also survives.)

Meanwhile, the Freepers glory in not whining, and then they whine about it.

And The RedStaters lick their wounds and counsel the GOP to get back to its principles.

Don't go to these guys for predictions. Damn were they wrong.

As the disreputable, dispicable, scandalized, Iraq-addled, do-nothing Congress fades into history, ousted GOP leader Tom Delay, whose seat went to a Democrat, tells the Dems to "make his day."

Florida turnout sucked, especially in Jim Davis' only stronghold, South Florida.

Sure wish this candidate had one. And this one.

Big headline of the election: the GOP commits scumbag misdeed after scumbag misdeed after scumbag misdeed, and they lose anyway. And yes, Dubya, you have been rebuked.

The foreign press is loving it ... especially the part about rejecting George W. Bush and his war.

And it wouldn't be conventional wisdom if the punditocracy didn't declare Tuesday a victory for John McCain.
