Michael Jackson’s best defender: himself
News of the World posts exclusive video that shows the King of Pop defending himself against sex molestation allegations made by the family of Jordy Chandler in 1996 (Jackson later settled…) and more. In this video, a then- 37-year-old Jackson laughs quite authentically at what he seems to be indicating are ludicrous allegations against him; not just sex abuse (including of Macaulay Culkin — something the actor has long denied… and an Australian boy named Brett Barnes, who also denied any abuse…) but also other rumors: the notion that he isn’t proud to be Black, that he “bleached” his skin, that he wanted a white kid to play him in a movie, that he didn’t want to perform at President Bill Clinton’s inauguration, and that he was gay. In this incredible clip, Jackson launches into a spirited defense of the most damning allegation ever thrown at him — his association with children. You can hear Jackson’s attorney, Steve Cochrane, in the background instructing him not to answer some of the questions. Some quotes:
“When I get angry enough I write down what I want to say and what I want to talk about, to set the record straight.
“Cos you get to a point where you get tired of people lying. I get tired of situations like this, where people completely lie on me, and I’m sick of it . . . I want to set the record straight.”
… “I’m a black American and I’m proud of it. And I’m honoured of it,” he says. “The bleached skin rumour, which is a rumour. I don’t bleach my skin. He adds: “They say-they once said-I wanted a white kid to play me as a child, which was a rumour.”
Then he blurts out: “I’m not gay.”

Had he done this with Martin Bashir, I think you would have seen Michael leave this earth with a far different image. It makes you wonder if by the time he did the Bashir interview, Michael really was drugged…
