Arizona Black gun nut linked to pastor who wants Obama dead, ‘melted like a snail’

August 27, 2009 · Posted in News and Current Affairs

AZ-gun-manRemember Chris? He’s probably the only Black man in America who could wade through a crowd of white people, visibly strapped with an assault rifle, and not get shot (or at least catch a serious official beat-down.) On a more serious note, he’s also Chris Broughton, a divorced, former plastic mold manufacturing employee, Ron Paul devotee, militia movement hanger-on (psst! Chris! They usually don’t like Black people…!) regular “Prison Planet” radio caller, and a parishioner of a guy named Pastor (and I use “pastor” lightly) Steven Anderson, whose prayers including calling on God to “abort” President Obama, and melt him like a snail, so that after he’s dead, somebody else — presumably somebody Pastor Anderson … I man God … approves of — can take his office. (Wonder how this guy feels about Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi? God’s gonna have a lot of “meltin’” to do…)

From the Phoenix New Times:

Remember the crazy Tempe pastor who was Tasered by the U.S. Border Patrol back in April: Steven Anderson of the Faithful Word Baptist Church? The same fella that Christopher Broughton, the anti-Obama, anarchist AR-15-carrying activist, declared to be his pastor on conspiranut moonhowler Alex Jones’ radio show?

Well, as has been reported on Crooks and Liars and MSNBC, the day before Broughton brought his loaded assault rifle to a demonstration outside where the President was speaking in downtown Phoenix, Pastor Anderson was preaching hate for President Obama, and praying for the Chief Executive’s death.

And when I say, “preaching hate,” I don’t mean that as a figure of speech.

“God hates Barack Obama,” the preacher told his congregation. “I hate Barack Obama.”

In a rambling, hour-plus sermon that knocks “sodomites,” disses Pentecostal Christians, and offers up a birther fantasy of Obama playing baseball in Kenya as a child with a stick and a mango, Anderson talked about how Obama would be in town the next day, and that some of his parishioners might be attending, although he couldn’t personally make it due to previous plans.

For Anderson, Obama cannot be “saved,” and because Obama backs access to abortion for women, he deserves to die.

“You’re gonna tell me that I’m supposed to pray for the socialist devil,” asked Anderson, rhetorically, referring to Obama, “[this] murderer, infanticide, who wants to see young children, and he wants to see babies killed through abortion and partial birth — and all these other things — you’re gonna tell me I’m supposed to pray for god to give him a good lunch tomorrow, while he’s in Phoenix, Arizona. Nope. I’m not going to pray for his good. I’m going to pray that he dies and goes to hell. When I go to bed tonight, that’s how I’m going to pray.”

Watch Anderson work:

UPDATE: Alan Colmes interviews Anderson on his radio show, to hilarious effect. Upshot: Anderson says “I’m really not a negative person…”

Where is the Republican party and its leaders. Why aren’t they loudly condemning the rhetoric of this mad man? Their silence is deafening.

    Indeed.

This man calls himself a man of God? Hardly.

This guy and his Pastor represent the true if not always spoken beliefs of a majority of modern, mainstream Republicans. The myth that there are still a majority of Republican “moderates” willing to condemn these types of extremists is a greater danger than these few. News flash–Republicans are thugs and they declared war on everyone who doesn’t accept their dogma and abandoned reality long ago.

I’m sitting here and I reading these articles and I am upset. I have no problem with a man speaking his opinion. My problem is when a man that represents Christ uses his position to poision the minds of his followers. God is a God of love and if you read your bible you would see no leader is put in office unless God allows it. It is very obvious that this so called preacher is not a student of the word of God because if he was he would not speak the type of hate he is speaking. It is very clear that the members of this church is not reading their bible either because if they were they would have left that church and not looked back. Our job as christians is to pray for our leaders. If we see something that we dont agree with we are suppose to pray. The scriptures tells us in II Choronicles 7:14 that if we as the people of God would humble ourselves and pray, seek Gods face and turn from OUR WICKED WAYS, then he would hear from heaven, forgive our sins and HEAL OUR LAND. This world will get better if people would begin to humble themselves and ask God to heal our land instead of handling things the way non-believers handle things. Lastly, concerning this man, Steven Andersons comment about God removing Obama and placing someone he (God)approves of is an ignorant statement because according to the bible God places leaders in office. If Mr. Obama was not suppose to be in office God would not have allowed it. God is in control so our job is not to judge but to pray for our leaders and let God be God. My prayer for Mr. Anderson and his followers is that their eyes be open and that they would read the bible and obey it. Also that they would know the God they say that they serve and handle things in the way that our bible instucts us to. Otherwise we are not christians because being a christian means being Christ like. In closing I encourage you to read I Timothy 2:1-4, Matthew 7:1-5, and I Corinthians 13. Prayerfully submitted, Tameka A.
