Palestinians evicted from homes in East Jerusalem
Israel ejects two Palestinian families — some 50 people in all – from their homes of 53 years in Arab East Jerusalem, citing, of all things, claims they say were established during the Ottoman Empire. The U.N. and the Jordanian government built the homes and deeded them to the families yet they have no power to stop the evictions. Worse, the Israeli construction company that wants to build still more Jewish settlements where these families lived is tied to an American millionaire named Irving Muscovitz, the “bingo tycoon” reporter Max Blumenthol has reported is behind extremist attempts at ethnically cleansing occupied territories Israel wants for itself, so the issue reaches into this country. Will the international community, including the Obama administration, ever stop tolerating this stuff? Of course, the likelihood is that nothing at all will be done.
Meanwhile, the plight of the Palestinian families is subsumed by the international media’s much greater interest in a gay club shooting and the latest crooked politician story to emerge from the Israeli government, this time, racist foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman.
