I hate NFL throwback games

On throwback day, the Titans are the Oilers and the Jets are the Titans. Yeah. You figure it out.

So I ended my multi-season NFL bye yesterday, watching football all afternoon and evening, and boy was I sorry I did. Apparently it was “throwback day” for at least some of the teams, and the first game I happened to catch was the New York Jets vs. the Tennesee Titans … only the Titans were dressed as the team they used to be: the Houston Oilers, and the Jets were dressed as some team I didn’t recognize. A call to my brother Oren (more on my bruh here, here and here, or follow him on Twitter,) who does sports talk radio & TV in Denver, revealed that the Jets used to be called the New York Titans. Ironic, and something I should have known as a born New Yorker… although I prefer the Giants. So anyway, it turns out that on throwback day, the teams dress up in their old uniforms, EVEN IF THEIR OLD UNIFORMS ARE FROM THEIR FORMER CITY! Now what sense does that make??? So I asked Oren … what happens if a team that used to be in City A plays the NEW team from City A? Do they both wear the same uniform? Well … Turns out the Cleveland Browns, who are now called the Baltimore Ravens, played the Cleveland Browns, who are now called the Cleveland Browns, yesterday, too. (Thankfully, they didn’t wear identical jerseys.) And how much does it suck to be a Browns fan, knowing your former team left your city and now they’ve got an awesome  record in their new city, and your new team, that has the same name as the old team, sucks, (and lost yesterday to your old team)??? Meanwhile, if you’re a Baltimore football fan, YOUR old team, the Colts, quit YOUR city for Indianapolis, and then won a freaking SuperBowl!

Football just isn’t as much fun anymore…

Oh, two up-notes yesterday:

1. Is the Jets’ Mark Sanchez the Latino Marlon Briscoe, or the Latino Doug Willisms? (Or does that distinction really belong to Tony Romo?) Either way, the age of the Latino quarterback is upon us… (although why would anyone willingly call themselves “gang green…?”

2. The Dolphins still suck. Sorry, Miami. And the Broncos won :)

    Dude, you are stupid. Take a few minutes of your precious time and do some historical research on the NFL…all those unis are fantastic ways to look back…maybe your brain is too dumb to figure out which team is which???…..try thinking before the year 2000….and your brother is a radio hack who’s 15 minutes of fame are long over…his calls to the Rome show are vapid and predictable…and tell him to lose the backwards cap…talk about someone living in the 90’s….where’s the baggy “Hammer-time” pants?

    This only proves anyone with a limted IQ can be a blogger.

    @Joe’s
    Gee, and you took time out of your obviously crowded social calendar at 9:26 at night to wade back into my archives and write all of that grammatically incorrect commentary? This just proves anyone with a limited IQ and nothing better to do with his time can be an asshat. Failed at talk radio, I presume?
