Just what Republicans need: Mark Foley’s back

Disgraced Ex-Congressman

You’d think these guys would back off and give John Edwards a little airtime, wouldn’t you? But no, they can’t resist.

So anyway, set your teenage sons’ Facebooks to “private” … Mark Foley’s back!

From CQ Politics: “Former Rep. Mark Foley is making his way back into public life less than three years after a congressional page scandal forced him from Congress, and he isn’t entirely ruling out a future bid for office.

“I doubt I will re-enter the political arena as an office-seeker, but I will use my experience and my voice to help others, to rally for economic sanity, to bring about real reforms on a local, state and even national level,” Foley told Javier Manjarres according to the transcript of an interview published on the subscription-only part of the Web site of the Conservative Republican Alliance in Florida.

Manjarres interviewed Foley at the West Palm Beach restaurant Pistache last week after a fundraiser for Marco Rubio (Rush Limbaugh was there, too). He told Notepad his impression is that Foley is leaving his options open.

El Rushbo partying with Mark Foley? You mean the same El Rushbo who has a curious inability to maintain a relationship with a woman and who takes hot, sweaty trips to South America with a bunch of guy friends, packing Viagra? (blush) … Yeah, that makes sense.

Meanwhile, Foley’s new radio show is about to kick off, giving him and Rush something in common (no, not pills … at least I don’t think so …) Per the PB Post On Politics blog:

Javier Manjarres, the head of the Fort Lauderdale-based Conservative Republican Alliance, sent out word this morning that former U.S. Rep. Mark Foley “is still popular and loved by many of his friends and supporters in his former Congressional District as well as throughout Palm Beach.”

Case in point– last Tuesday, following a fundraiser at the West Palm Beach hot spot Pistache, talk show heavyweight and lovable little fuzz-ball himself Rush ‘El Rushbo” Limbaugh identified Mark sitting down at a table, walked up to him and bellowed out, “Mark Foley, how the hell are ya!,” before embracing Foley in warm bear hug.

Manjarres, one of the most vocal supporters of former House Speaker Marco Rubio’s primary campaign against Republican Gov. Charlie Crist, also notes that after reading the “investigator’s notes” about the scandal that forced Foley from office, “there was never any evidence that a crime was committed.”He calls Foley’s new radio program, “Inside the Mind of Mark Foley,” a “must listen event.” Foley’s first show airs Tuesday at 6 p.m. on 960AM in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast. It can also be heard on the Web at www.seaviewam960.com.

Yes, Mr. Manjarres, but can you give him a cute nickname like “Pepe LeMieux?”
