Sick of the healthcare debate yet? Yeah, me too. But here’s the latest anyway

harry_reidHarry Reid has finally produced a unified Senate bill. He apparently also modified the anti-abortion language, rather than going “the full Stupak,” to the chagrin of right-to-lifers. He says he’ll use reconciliation to jam the bill through if the Lieberman-Nelson-Lincoln apostasy continues. The CBO says the bill is cheaper than the House bill, would cover 94 percent of Americans, and would cut the deficit by $130 billion over ten years, but the “opt out” could leave a third of the uninsured “out.”

Meanwhile, there will be a test vote this weekend … as Joe Lieberman waves good-bye forever to the Democratic Party (he couldn’t come back in if he wanted to) and Robert Reich continues giving Harry  some damned fine advice. (Hope he takes it.)
