The lunatics OWN the asylum: Hoffman pledges his ’sacred honor’ to Glenn Beck
The New York 23 race just never gets old. Doug Hoffman, the third-party candidate who now has the official endorsement of the party his supporters are still trashing online, and whose candidate the teabaggers forced out of the race, is on record as having pledged his “sacred honor” to … wait for it … Glenn Beck and the 9/12 movement (America is good, America!!!) What? Not Rush Limbaugh???
As the Washington Independent points out, even right wing pols aren’t exactly rushing to sign on to Glenn’s loony cavalcade (even Marco Rubio isn’t that far gone, yet…) but Hoffman is, well, special: Glenn Beck is also his mentor. Oh, the fat guy’s not gonna be happy about that! So Hoffman, who still doesn’t live in the District and still has no earthly idea about the concerns of people who do (wait till they find out he plans to turn down all those federal earmarks that essentially ARE the economy in upstate New York…) is now both the Glenn Beck candidate AND the Sarah Palin Facebook candidate. Love it.
Meanwhile, Dede Scozzafava is now openly campaigning for the Democrat, Bill Owens, reminding voters that at the end of the day, their concerns are local. The right wing bloggers and preening failed politicians pouring into their state aren’t staying for the clean-up.
Personally, I’d like to see Hoffman win tomorrow, just to enjoy the spectacle of him trying to follow through on his pledges to the 9/12ers, which means he has to strip his district of its federal lifelines, bankrupt the dairy farmers, and defund Fort Drum. With Sarah Palin having moved on, Hoffman will be left all alone to escape the rolling pins being swung at him by little old ladies who thought they were just voting for more tea parties. It’s almost too good to be true! (Oh, and Erick Erickson is still not getting the credit he deserves. Darn that Sarah Palin!)
