LL Cool J blows up Palin’s spot **UPDATE** Toby Keith, too

Yet another reason to love LL Cool J.

The right wing media hound tries to drag the hip hop legend into her new Fox News special, and he says, I don’t think so:

NEW YORK — An upcoming Fox News Channel special hosted by Sarah Palin is titled “Real American Stories.”

But rapper-actor LL Cool J says his participation in the show was bogus.

In response, the network has snipped him from the program.

In a Twitter posting late Tuesday, the entertainer wrote that “Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palins Show. WOW.”

… “Contrary to what was reported, LL Cool J was never scheduled to be a guest on ‘Real American Stories’ with Sarah Palin this week,” Rhett Usry, the artist’s spokesman, said in a statement on Wednesday. “The show had planned to use an interview from 2008 that was being repurposed without LL’s permission.

FNC’s snippy response is priceless:

… in a statement released to other media outlets, the network said: “‘Real American Stories’ features uplifting tales about overcoming adversity and we believe Mr. Smith’s interview fits that criteria. However, as it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.”

Credits for the 42-year-old actor include a starring role in the hit CBS freshman series “NCIS: Los Angeles,” as well as several films such as “Last Holiday” and “S.W.A.T.”

Yeah, I think his “fledgling” career will be fine. Watch the banned clip here, where you’ll also find out what Palin’s would-a-been son-in-law, Ricky Hollywood, is pitching.

UPDATE: turns out LL wasn’t the only one who was surprised to be included in Sarah’s special program. Country crooner Toby Keith says he was caught off guard, too:

According to HitFix, “Keith, who says he’s a registered Democrat, was not told about the usage of a past interview for Palin’s program. ‘We were never contacted by Fox,’ his rep tells Hitfix. ‘I have no idea what interview it’s taken from. They’re promoting this like it’s a brand new interview. He never sat down with Sarah Palin.’”

Fox is apparently keeping Keith in the show, and no, they haven’t yet snarked about his “fledgling music career…” Country music fans actually watch Fox, so it probably wouldn’t be a good idea …

So now the burning question: did Sarah interview ANYBODY for this show???
