Do you remember the time… tea parties? John Boehner wasn’t just in favor of the TARP bailout for Wall Street, which was signed by the president … what was his name again… oh, right, George W. Bush! on October 4, 2008, and this is important folks … before Barack Obama was elected president… Watch (with a major flashback hat tip to the Rachel Maddow Show):
And then… presto-change-o! Fast-forward to December, 2009, and this same John Boehner is arguing, just as strenuously, that TARP MUST BE SHUT DOWN!!!

WTF Has Barack Obama Done So Far?

“…TARP bailout for Wall Street, which was signed by the president … what was his name again… oh, right, George W. Bush! on October 4, 2008, and this is important folks … before Barack Obama was elected president…”
AND THIS IS IMPORTANT FOLKS, Bush signed this at the REQUEST of Barack Obama “to hasten a smooth transition for the next President, and so the taxpayers wouldn’t have to wait until Congress meets after the inaugeration…” It was something everyone agreed was needed at the time.
If you watch the video and listen to Mr. Boehner’s second comments, he was talking about banning a SECOND bank bailout bill. An extention of the original emergency bailout bill. This, after a year of the additional trillion dollar bailouts over and above the origianal 89 billion dollar TARP that he and almost everyone else supported in 2008.
You need to get your facts together and see the context in which Mr. Boehner was speaking.
Nice try, Kathy. Are you saying the president of the United States was taking orders from the junior Senator from Illinois? TARP was proposed in October — before the outcome of the 2008 election was known. Obama would have to be pretty presumptuous to be calling for a “smooth transition” before even being elected. And Kathy, dear, the bank bailout originated with Fed Chairman Bernanke and with Hank Paulsen. In fact, Paulsen WROTE IT, as a one sheet memo that Bush tried to have Congress enact in its exact form. Congress pushed back, and in the ensuing debate, you got the Boehner tears. Stop getting your news from Glenn Beck. He’s just an entertainer, you know…
Actually, it was SEPTEMBER… and Paulsen and Bernanke got major pushback from Congress for essentially demanding that their plan being enacted immediately, without modification:
http://money.cnn.com/2008/09/23/news/economy/bailout_hearing/index.htm
And one more thing: you know who pushed back hardest against the bailout? Two groups… Liberals:
http://www.truth-out.org/article/taxpayers-congress-push-back-against-bailout
and Congressional Democrats:

Those pushing hardest FOR the Wall Street bailout included John Boehner, and your favorite president, George W. Bush.
It helps to read, mama. But thanks for playing.
