Suspended police chief’s excuse for racist emails: ‘sensitivity training’ … seriously

Suspended Wilton Manors Police Chief Richard Perez, who was also booted from the statewide officer training board he had been appointed to by Gov. Charlie Crist, has one hell of an explanation for why he sent racist emails, including some attacking President Obama, to his colleagues. You won’t believe it, and neither did one of the people who would have been in the know…

Hat tip to Bob Norman of the Broward New Times.

In this more extensive clip of the raw interview with NBC 6 and Elgin Jones of the South Florida Times, who broke the story, Perez says the emails were “political satire,” and continues to flog the sensitivity training meme, but he doesn’t explain why he forwarded them to colleagues at work, nor does he get to which emails were for the supposed class at the police academy, where officials apparently have no idea what he’s talking about.

Watch part two of the interview here, as the reporters try to get Perez to specify which emails were for “training purposes” and which ones were “political satire” and they delve into the criminal investigation surrounding his office:
