Did Michael Bloomberg really say Congress is full of illiterate hicks?

Why yes, he did

“If you look at the U.S., you look at who we’re electing to Congress, to the Senate—they can’t read,” he said. “I’ll bet you a bunch of these people don’t have passports. We’re about to start a trade war with China if we’re not careful here,” he warned, “only because nobody knows where China is. Nobody knows what China is.”

Zing!

Bloomberg may have a point. Congress did just get a bumper crop of “we the people” huckabucks, courtesy of the angry grandpas. And then there’s this guy, who seems to be calling for war with Iran… (BTW, of course we the people know where China is, Michael, you commie MORON… It’s in Arizona…)

But why stop at Congress? What about the folks that just took their country back? They’re mad as hell about the lack of job creation … except that there has been job creation, and actual job reductions in government. Your chart for the week is courtesy of Bob Cesca:

Now, fairy godmother, if only we could find a way to cut spending without angering anybody at all, slash the top tax rates and balance the budget all at the same time …

Well, let’s take a look at Congress for a minute…
    Rand Paul – Kentucky
    Jim Demint – South Carolina
    Michele Bachmann – Minnesota

Too bad Christine O’Donnell didn’t win – she makes this bunch of illiterates look smart.

It’s easy to see why the Democrats lost, big-time. Obama hates sound bites and speaks with resplendent prose, in great detail, backed up by facts. Our recent election indicates that many of our voters have no patience and little abiliy to follow “elitist” logic, or the complex facts of life in the 21st century….So, I’m guessing we are well on our way BACK to a country run under the banner of the vapid, soundbites, secured by some of the bald-faced lies (or Kindly, call them,” regressive pronouncements”) of this election, that our voters so readily accepted because they were so readily understood.) The rest of the civilized world will marvel at us, wondering “why do Americans hate universal health care?”..or why do Americans reject, common-sense insurance reforms that keep them from going bankrupt; just because they get sick? The easy answer, of course, is in the Republican refrain: “IT COSTS TOO MUCH”!!! — and on that basis, with no honest debate allowed… it seems our electorate…and politicians are persuaded to drop the issue…with no thought of long-term consequences. In a time of economic downturn, other issues and other desperate needs of our country are easily attacked and dismissed. Our education system is on the rocks, our infrastructure is in decay…and more. So, very soon, I see us liviing in some kind of Palinesque “dumbocracy” with new regressive laws, crafted by a totally lost and numbingly stupid congress. God help us.
