(Video) ICYMI: Economist Jared Bernstein schools GOP wonder-genius Paul Ryan

Major big-ups to C&L for pointing me to this clip from CNBC Monday. It’s a wonk’s paradise when you can hear an actual economist debate the right’s ideological boy-wonder, Paul Ryan, on trickle-down economics and vouchercare. Watch:

And you know there has to be bonus material…

Here’s a link to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (where Bernstein is now) breakdown of how Medicare recipients would fare under vouchercare.

If you like some numbers and charts with your politics, jaredbernsteinblog.com is a good place to go. He says this about the above:

“Debated Representative Paul Ryan this AM on CNBC. We agreed that there’s a lot to like about Wisconsin but that was it. To me, his program is an amalgam of trickle down, whack the poor, further enrich the wealthy, weaken social insurance, and push YOYO over WITT (“you’re on your own” versus “we’re in this together,” see here). Other than that, I like it.”

Watched part of it. I do like Jared Bernstein and he is so right YOYO over WITT. None of these people are for real(politicians) because they cash in as soon as they can. Look at Evan Bayh, Dem “not”. There are so many useless programs in Washington that they could cut, why start with those that don’t threaten us in anyway but taking a trip to Australia to take photos of billboards, WTF!
