Michele Bachmann and God’s awkward sense of humor

Wait, God jokes about hurricanes being his condemnation of government spending?

What?

First off, it sure didn’t sound like Bachmann was joking when she said that God was using earthquakes and hurricanes to advance tea party public policy. Second, it’s not a good idea to say you were joking after telling tea party evangelicals stuff God said to you that reinforces their political beliefs. They tend to get angry when politicians appear to be pulling their chain. Cuz, you know… God is on the end of that chain, or something…

  1. Alicia says:

Jesus was all about service to people that was in need!!!!

  2. Evangelicals who like to insist that natural and unnatural disasters alike are God’s verdict on political leadership might want to consider that this suggests, in modern times anyway, that God is a Democrat. I don’t know about you guys, but in the completed administrations of which I have a clear recollection (Reagan, Bush I, Clinton and Bush II), only the Democrat’s stands out as an era of relative peace and plenty. Just sayin’….
