Mukasey's collapse (and America's close call)
I'm with those who are both glad to learn that Attorney General Michael Mukasey is feeling better, but who are also breathing a sigh of relief that we never had to witness this same kind of spectacle with a President John McCain. Mukasey is five years younger than the, it turns out, more profoundly disabled than previously reported McCain. His collapse during a Federalist Society speech yesterday was a sobering reminder of the frailties of age. Watch:

Sen. Kennedy's condition updated
MSNBC is reporting that the senior Senator from Massachusetts, and the pater familias of the Kennedy family, has been diagnosed with a brain tumor, specifically a "glioma," which was the apparent cause of his seizure. The common treatment is radiation and chemotherapy, and apparently, it is a very serious, fast-spreading type of cancer.

All of our prayers should be with the Senator and his family today.

Godspeed, Teddy Kennedy
MSNBC has the latest on Senator Edward Kennedy's condition. Apparently, he suffered a seizure, but not a stroke. He's resting comfortably at MassGen in Boston.

Why did it take the Bush CDC an entire week to notify their counterparts in Europe that a man with drug resistent TB was entering their countries?

Godspeed, Tony Snow
Anyone who reads this blog knows I'm not too sweet on the GOP, let alone the partisan henchmen who labor for them. But some things are bigger than politics. Life, for one. My mother died of metastatic cancer that began as breast cancer and wound up in the liver, after recurring about ten years after a mastectomy. I know how deadly liver cancer can be. Once it's there, it's a very tough road for anyone afflicted with it. Tony Snow now has cancer in his liver that metastasized from his colon, which was removed some years ago. Whatever my opinions of his politics, or his tactics as press secretary, those things don't matter now. All I can do is wish him well, and hope that he, like Elizabeth Edwards and all other cancer victims, will keep his spirits up, and keep the fight on. Best wishes to you, man.

Update: Wizbang has links to some good info on liver cancer.
