Limbaugh hospitalized with chest pains

December 31, 2009 · Posted in Celebrity news · Comment

He was in Hawaii (covering the president’s vacation? Or just taking one of his own?) and apparently came down with chest pains. The folks over at Moderate Voice posted earlier that he had been in serious condition, but news reports later said he is “resting comfortably.” Limbaugh is 58, heavy, a cigar smoker, and has a history of prescription drug abuse. Not a good combo for the old 4-valve… As odious as I think Limbaugh is, you’ve got to wish anyone in that situation well. Hope he gets better.

Tiger throws in the towel

After a seemingly endless string of bimbo eruptions, and with news of a moving truck pulling up outside his Orlando-area home, Tiger Woods has turned the time-tested advice of PR professionals everywhere upside down. Rather than doing the obvious 3-step process to scandalized sports celebrity recovery (1. public mea culpa, 2. exclusive Barbara or Oprah interview, 3. go back to your sport and win) Tiger is trying a new tactic: he’s quitting golf (for now). Another 2:30 a.m. incident at Chez Woods, this time involving a “blonde woman” rushed to the hospital. (Luckily, she wasn’t wearing a bustier or clutching an envelope full of People Magazine pay-to-chat cash…) Since Elin has reportedly moved out, speculation is now focused on her mom, reports now confirming that the woman is Tiger’s mother-in-law, who apparently arrived in town this week. Will the Cablinasian community rise to Tiger’s defense?

**UPDATE: More blonde bombshells for Tiger … details at the end of the post. (sigh) **

An AP article by a reporter named Jesse Washington states that Tiger’s multiple flings with non-black women are causing agita within the African-American community. Who knew that black people were still trying to claim Tiger Woods? Didn’t he opt out, like years ago, on “Oprah?”Read more

5 reasons the Tiger scandal won’t hurt his bottom line

The rolling sex scandal/pay the wife to stay saga bleeding Tiger Woods may seem financially fatal to those of us snarking away at his troubles. But in the end, while I certainly don’t condone the behavior, and feel badly for his wife, I’m with ad guru Donny Deutsch, who got hammered by Mika this morning on “Morning Joe” for saying that in the end, the scandals won’t decimate Woods’ bank account (except to the extent he has to deplete it to pay off women, including Miss Elin.) Here’s why: Read more

Elin v. Tiger: why ’she bust the windows out his car’

TMZ claims to have the scoop on just what went down at Chez Tiger on the night of his now-infamous wreck. And it involves a reversal of what the original side dish claimed in public …

Rachel Uchitel has publicly denied she had sexual relations with Tiger Woods, but we’ve learned she has said she did indeed have an affair with the golfer. And, we’re told it was her — not Jaimee Grubbs — who caused an argument between Tiger and his wife, Elin Nordegren, that immediately preceded Tiger’s SUV crash. Read more

Cheaper to keep her?

Tiger Woods and wife Elin.

Tiger Woods and wife Elin.

Tiger Woods is reportedly preparing to revise his prenuptial agreement with golf club-wielding wife Elin to give her a $60 million return on investment … I mean “incentive” … to stay with him two more years. Under the current agreement, she’d pocket about $20 million of his bazillion dollar fortune, but under the new deal, she’d get about $55 mil. So what’s $5 mil upfront and $50 more for seven years, between friends future exes? Meanwhile, according to TMZ: Tiger and at least one of his alleged gal pals may have reached what you call an “understanding…” Read more

Tiger: ‘I let my family down’

UPDATE: The sponsors react.

Tiger Woods comes really, really close to making TMZ the most trusted name in news. From the golf god’s website:

I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.

Uh-oh! … In the statement, Tiger continues to stand by the really quite unbelievable story that his wife Elin didn’t open up a can of whup-ass on him with that golf club, but rather, heroically freed him from his SUV, Michael Jackson-panther style … more on why he’s probably being so steadfast after the jump. Jaime Grubbs (left) claims she had a fling with Tiger Woods. Oh, here we go...

Another day, another girl looking for her 15 minutes of Tiger fame (and maybe a chance at reality show stardom, or a little interview cash, or both…?) That’s waitress/reality show gal pal Jaime Grubbs on the left. She says she had a fling with Tiger Woods back in aught seven, when she was 21 years old. Let’s hope this isn’t a trend. Otherwise, TMZ is gonna run out of bounty money. Say, at this point, couldn’t any Hooters waitress with a Facebook account make the same claim and grab HER 15? Meanwhile, Tiger gets a citation and four points off his license. There will be no criminal charges. Well, at least there’s that…

Hell no he won’t go!

… to his own golf tournament. Tiger’s cancellation rules out the “just win and shut them all up” PR option.

“I am extremely disappointed that I will not be at my tournament this week,” Woods said of the Chevron World Challenge in California. “I am certain it will be an outstanding event and I’m very sorry that I can’t be there.”
